I hope you’ve had a great summer! I often feel September is like the beginning of a new year – memories of school-days I suppose. A break during the summer, time away from work and away from home on holiday provide thinking time. This is often a time when we can look at our lives and make plans. It’s certainly a good time to start to get your body sorted and improve your fitness.
Logistics get more and more complicated due to the popularity of our courses! Finally, I am delighted to be able to post the new timetable on-line:
We are thrilled to introduce two new teachers who join the team:
Jan Hunt has completed the rigorous training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute, with her practical supervision here with us at Viney Hall. Eighteen months of hard work studying and practicing and she is now starting to run classes. She has run a beginners course over the summer, and will start two new beginners courses in September on a Tuesday evening and a Thursday morning. Please remember that all new beginners will require a 1:1 prior to joining the class – please phone to arrange an appointment.
Sarah Withers trained in Bristol with Pilates Equipment for clinical conditions. She has her own studio in Monmouth and has agreed to run two Reformer classes here on Thursday afternoons.
I hope you will make these lovely ladies very welcome! You will be in safe hands, and I’m sure you will benefit from their knowledge and expertise.
Our new Reformer Room is now ready for use and we have been running taster sessions over the summer. We have purchased three new machines to add to our old one and have done up the room upstairs as a new studio. The taster classes have proved very popular – so much so that I have kept having to add more sessions! They are wonderful machines, taking pilates to a different level by adding spring resistance and the movement of the carriage. This gives lots of feedback regarding symmetry and weaknesses and also adds fun and dynamics to the class. I will do a separate post on the delights of the reformers! We have scheduled 4-person classes into the September programme, and 4-5 session courses may be booked. I have also been doing 1:1 sessions on the reformers, helping individuals with their rehabilitation. 1:2 or 1:3 can also be arranged if required – that’s one instructor and 2 or 3 clients; the other way round may be a bit scary!!
Reformer courses will be £75 for a 5 week course, and £60 for a 4 week course (Thursday afternoons).
Classes are mixed, men and women, and we will endeavour to group similar standards/fitness levels together as much as possible. Probably best to phone to arrange a reformer course so you can be grouped with similar standards
As usual, priority booking for people wishing to rebook the same matwork class as last term will be available for one week, after which we open to everyone and clients will be able to move to different times if they wish.
Matwork classes and Yoga will be £84 for a twelve week course with 2 weeks off for half term during weeks commencing 23rd and 30th October. If you prefer to pay for half a term then the cost will be £48 per half term. If you do not want to book a course, then individual classes may be booked if there is space available at £10 a class. Phone the day before, or on the day to book a place.
Please don’t hesitate to give us a ring if you are in any doubt about what class would be suitable for you.
I look forward to the new term with you all!
